While we don’t have an elevator, the journey to your room is part of the authentic New Orleans experience, offering a chance to admire the details that make our property unique. Why doesn't the hotel have elevators?
Most buildings in the French Quarter were built in a historical period when elevator shafts were not permitted due to the narrow building footprints, structural limitations, and the desire to preserve the historic architecture. Adding an elevator shaft would significantly alter the exterior of the building which is not permitted due to strict preservation guidelines.
